so i finally finalized my summer vacation plans...only now am i able to do so...there was so many things happening in the world of fox animation so it was hard to wrap my head around it...only in hindsight can i write this...as is everything seems in order and had worked out...but we'll see... so i switched departments from Retakes (Post-Production) to Design (Production) so now i'm learning a whole new process and mindset of animation...and i'm loving it! (tangent: when i was a kid i loved saturday morning and weekday afternoon cartoons - never thought i'd be here doing this but destiny has a weird way of getting to the point where you should be). the most exciting part is working in photoshop..it's definitely a more creative position than my last position essentially we have to send the models of the backgrounds, characters, props, and effects to the animation studio that's will create the animation that you see on tv...i was a bit intimidated by working in photoshop (i'm not an artist i only draw stick figures and you want me to do what!?! honestly i haven't worked in photoshop since my intern days at a website company which i think we used Photoshop version 7) anyway back to my summer vacation plans...if i had stayed in retakes i would have had a hiatus (not working) of about 6 weeks and start the new season which i would have traveled for most of that time off. however, now i'm in design i negotiated a week off. so at the end of july i have planned and confirmed: July 27 - New Orleans, LA Habitat for Humanity- St. Bernard Project July 31 - leave for chicago via amtrak 19 hours August 1 - Lollapalooza 2008 Grant Park, Chicago, IL August 3 - back to LA,CA
i'm excited my brother decided to come w/ me so we'll both have a learning experience.
that's about it...i do have two weeks off in october for my mom's bday extravaganza! which we have yet to plan...i'm getting worried..any ideas?
well i hope it's not too hot in your neck of the woods...be safe and have fun!

| i haven't had that much opportunity to really use the Aiptek:
you need light...probably best outdoors on a sunny day. @ twilight its a bit grainy. in door low lighting you can't see much. i hooked it up to my hdtv i thought it was cool but not blown away. again i only have shot during twilight hours in hollywood so probably not a testament to the camera...for the price i can't complain...and since it uses sd cards (and i have multiple sd cards) i find that convenient...i just need an 8gig to shoot and hour and a half of footage...overall i'm happy with the purchase i just have to start using it more often...

| so i purchased an Aiptek 1080p camcorder to play...so be prepared for some groundbreaking videos...and don't blame me if you end up on youtube....there will be a disclosure clause to follow..just in case you're interested:

| i went to radio shack the other day and bought a pair of wireless headphones...living in an apartment complex i've always felt like i was disturbing the peace...rockin out at guitar hero, watching BSG (my latest compulsion), or I love Lucy...i've always felt bad that my neighbors had to contend w/ my nosie. so i bought a pair and i love it! i can go to the kitchen and fix a bowl of cereal. i can go to the bathroom and not wait for commercial breaks....i can even walk down to the mailbox and get my mail (in the event that i have an urge to get my mail during an episode of I Love Lucy, which never happens i just like the choice to do so.) i suppose i'm almost settled in my apartment completely....i just have to buy a couch :) :(
